It was here, in a place of vast stagnation, that I
found such age -
That which came from the froth of the blood of the
elders was a tree, small and without boughs -
This, it found, was inadequate, and so it grew up
gnarled roots through and above the soil, which all
reached towards the warmth of me -
As they stretched for years outwards from the tree,
the fire dimmed enough for passage, and, seeing this
change, they enveloped my sphere -
After eons of darkness and strife I awoke in a place
much similar, though less could be seen -
For I had lost the vigor of my soul, and was left
there - a young light grown old -
